Leaking shower head or bigger problem?
I own a rental property, last June I began renting to some elderly tenants who removed the showerhead that was there and replaced with one of those removeable wand type heads. Within just a few months, maybe even weeks we began to notice that ONLY when the shower is on we get a drip from the shower to the basement. We are able to look up from underneath and are pretty sure it is coming from above the faucet and on/off fixture. The showerhead has a plastic thread attachment as opposed to metal. Is it possible that this could simply be the showerhead or is it more likely a pipe or connector problem and I will have to remove a wall. Also, there was never a problem until this showerhead was put on.
When it was installed, it was wrapped with teflon but my husband was told that it had been tightened as much as it could, originally when it was put on, it was spraying when the water was turned on.
Try removing the shower head and putting a few wraps of teflon tape around the threads, then reinstalling the shower head. It's very possible that there isn't a good seal at that connection.
